The first article of the Code of Medical Ethics features that:
"The practice of medicine is a vocation. The doctor aims to maintain, improve and restore the physical, spiritual and mental health and the relief of pain"
By this meaning, the doctor takes care of the development of mutual trust and respect between himself and his patient. He always:
- communicates with the patient
- hears their problems and concerns
- behaves with respect and comprehension
- informs with clarity and honesty
- respects pateints' thoughts, dignity and privacy
The medical practice is the ultimate expression of the blending of:
- medical knowledge
- medical expertise
- medical skills
- common sense
